Whitley Hall Wedding Photography – Laura & Dan

And so to Yorkshire. This was the first of two trips over the Pennines in six days for me. I took the drive over Snake Pass where the drizzle started, then the fog came down and this was in the middle of August! The girls were getting ready at Whitley Hall, which is where I started but the ceremony was taking place at a church in Whiston.

Ceremony at Whiston Parish Church

Usually I make my own way to the ceremony location, but today I was offered a ride on the vintage bus. The bridesmaids and a handful of guests were taking the trip so I tagged along for the ride. After a hairy 40 minutes drive through the very narrow country lanes, we arrived in one piece thanks to the skillful manoeuvring of the driver.

Dan was already in the church so I went to meet him. When you look at the photos, you’ll wonder why there are none of the ceremony. It’s because the vicar here doesn’t allow photography in the church except for the register signing and exit from the church. It’s a shame really as it’s such a beautiful location and the ceremony was so lovely, it would have been so nice to record it in photos but that unfortunately is how it is sometimes.

Unfortunately when we came out of the church, the weather decided to take a turn for the worse and the drizzle started again. We managed to rattle off a few group shots but decided to head back to Whitley Hall and finish the rest off there. Everyone piled onto the bus and off we set again.

Back at Whitley Hall, the sun was out and we finished off the group shots, along with the bride and groom portraits. The sun continued to shine and the guests made the most of the patio area and pier. Soon after it was time for the wedding breakfast, speeches and cake cutting.

Now this was no ordinary cake and believe me, I have seen a lot of cakes in my six years of being a wedding photographer. It was in fact a cheese cake, that’s right a cake made of cheese, oh and a pork pie! Quite a work of art.

Speeches and party time

The speeches went down well, with Dan taking some stick from his brothers and his little nephews. After more drinks outside it was party time and also time for me to get the photo booth going. After the first dance and a few party shots, it was finally time for me to head back over Snake Pass and home. But what a day this was.

Laura & Dan, here is your day.
