Peak District Family Photography – Telephone Exchange
Catherine had planned a huge weekend away for her and her family to celebrate their mum and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone had travelled from Manchester to the Peak District for this epic family photography session, including me. The Telephone Exchange is a beautiful holiday home conversion from what was once, you guessed it, the telephone exchange for this part of the Peak District. It’s now a huge house sleeping up to 24 people. When I arrived, I was greeted with 22 people and two dogs.
The sun and the rain
You never know what weather you’re going to get in this part of the country but as we in the middle of the summer heatwave we kept our fingers crossed for the sun to carry on shining. No such luck though, we did see the sun on occasions but a few dark clouds were never far away and it started to drizzle a couple of times. Not to worry though, when it did rain, we dived into the house and the kids played table football or watched TV.
Once the sun came out again, it was action stations to get the group shots photographed in the garden. After these were finished, the football came out and the kids did well to keep the ball in the garden and not to kick it over the dry stone walls. After the footy, everyone took part in a game of Kubb. What’s that, never heard of Kubb? It’s a Swedish throwing game where the ‘Kubbs’ or wooden blocks are knocked over by throwing wooden batons.
After everyone was well and truly worn out, my two hours with this family were finally up. I think we managed to capture the spirit of the weekend in a gorgeous set of photos that all three generations can enjoy. If you are planning a special weekend in the Peak District or anywhere else in the North, why not get in touch and let me photograph you and your family’s special occasion?
