This was my first Mere Resort wedding photography shoot, Carolyn and Dean couldn’t have chosen a nicer venue and the weather was fantastic. I’d had a look around Mere a few weeks ago to scout out the best locations and was really looking forward to photographing this wedding.

I arrived about 11.30am to photograph Dean and the boys arriving and relaxing in the sun outside the bar. I then nipped upstairs to photograph Carolyn and her bridesmaids getting ready. I love all the details that can be photographed with the bridal preparation shots such as the shoes, dress, flowers etc. I photograph individual portraits of the bridesmaids and I shoot the girls having their make up applied. It gives the groom a chance to see everything that was happening before the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony itself was held in the James Braid suite. Most of Carolyn’s family had made the trip down from Scotland and all of the men looked fantastic in their kilts. Dean and his best man (also called Dean) were also in kilts even though they aren’t Scottish.

After the wedding ceremony the guests went outside on the veranda for drinks while I photographed the group shots and the bride and groom portraits, a lot of the golfers playing that day offered their congratulations as we wandered around the grounds.

The speeches came next and I then took a break while everyone enjoyed their meal. After the cake cutting, the first dance and a few few shots of the band I set up the photobooth studio in the corner of the suite and managed to persuade many of the guests to wear the props and write good luck messages on a little blackboard to Carolyn and Dean.

I finally left about 10.30pm and a great evening was had by everyone, The Mere looked fantastic and friends and family from all over the world drank and danced the night away into the early hours.
