Naomi had been given my contact details by Steph and Ade, you may remember their Manchester wedding day at Didsbury House Hotel last year. After lots of postponements due to the weather, we finally got to meet up at Lyme Park for the photo shoot. Naomi, her wife Zoe and two children Elsie and Arthur all came along for the ride.
Early morning start
I remember writing something similar in my last blog, but we thought starting early would avoid the crowds of sun seekers, hikers and dog walkers. Not a chance! The park was really starting to fill up fast and this was at 10am. We even encountered a large group of school children out on a scouts/girl guides adventure. Still, as always, it’s such a vast place, it’s always easy to find quiet spots.

As usual we started off in the courtyard to the house. As the house and gardens don’t open until 11am, it’s usually pretty quiet here and we used the lovely old stone steps, up to the front door for a few photos. We then started our walk to The Cage. I love the walk up there, it’s always very windy though whatever the weather, as it is so exposed. With views around Cheshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Manchester city centre it really is stunning. Unfortunately, little Elsie didn’t like the wind so we didn’t get far before turning around to find some more sheltered areas.

We headed back down to the area where the pond is and followed a woodland path. Lots of huge logs were scattered around, great for the little ones to play on and explore. We ended up back at the pond bridge for our final photos before the little ones wanted feeding. Elsie wanted fish and chips, not sure if she got them or not but she and Arthur certainly deserved something nice for being so good.
Here’s a few from the day, hope you like.
