Doubletree Hilton, Manchester wedding photography – Rhonelle & Niina

Rhonelle & Niina booked me earlier in the year with no messing around. Straight on to the online booking form and deposit paid. We didn’t actually meet until a very rainy day in Castlefield, Manchester for their pre wedding shoot earlier in the summer. They both live in London but Rhonelle is South African and Niina Finnish which gave this wedding a very international flavour.

Doubletree Hilton

Wow, what a stunning venue. Rhonelle & Niina decided to have the full day at the Doubletree Hilton next to Piccadilly Station in the heart of Manchester. With an early 11am ceremony, this meant an early start at 9am photographing the preparations on the 10th floor. The girls were only a few doors away from each other but managed to go the whole morning without catching a glimpse and breaking that oldest of wedding traditions.

Two white dresses and the bridesmaids in pink

It was all very relaxed and civilised in the hotel rooms beforehand. Rachel Dutton was providing the hair and make up and must have loved the amount of space in the huge suites. The views were just amazing overlooking the Manchester skyline.

Manchester wedding ceremony

Rhonelle and Niina were getting married on the floor above so didn’t have far to go. The ceremony was beautiful, with just 20 or so guests to witness it. After it was over they had exclusive use of the Skylounge terrace which again had the most fantastic views.

Doubletree Hilton – a drinks reception with a city centre view

After the ‘I do’s’ we went down to the library on the ground floor for a few drinks and canapes. This was the time we were supposed to nip out into Manchester city centre for the bride and bride photos. We had a change of heart though and decided to do these later on in the afternoon.

A colourful walk through the gay village

With the emotional speeches out of the way, the tasty wedding breakfast was consumed and it was time to leave the guests to their own devices. Some went back to the bar, others decided to go to their rooms and get ready for the party in the evening. No rest for Rhonelle & Niina though, it was time to take a stroll in the early evening sun around the sights that this Manchester wedding venue has to offer.

A walk down the whole length of Canal Street was quite an experience. Continuous rounds of applause rang out as these two brides strolled hand in hand. Next we went through Sackville Gardens into Vimto Park and stopped at a lovely little spot by a Manchester University building before heading back past the amazing old London Road Fire Station and finally ‘home’ to the Doubletree Hilton.

Cake cutting came before the dancing and evening fun and I left just before the buffet was served but what a blinder these girls and Manchester played. Until the next time, this is your day Rhonelle & Niina.
