This new born baby photo shoot was for a couple whose wedding I photographed in 2013 and now they’ve had a little addition to the family.

We wanted to try some very natural unposed shots and we will follow this up in a few months, for another shoot, when the little one will be more alert and be able to sit up and hold her head up. The best age to photograph a baby is, believe it or not, from birth, upto two weeks old. The it’s best not not to take any more professional shots until around 6 months. During that two week period, the baby will be very sleepy and easy to work with. After this time though, they become more alert but still not able to hold their heads up on their own. This makes them difficult to work with but after the six month period they can hold their head up and it’s easier to get their attention to look at the camera.

If you’d like some natural shots of your new arrival, then let me know by clicking the contact button above and we have have a chat about some ideas.
